Sunday is the Church’s weekly Easter
Sunday Mass is more than the fulfillment of an individual duty. The risen Christ gathers God’s people, nourishes them with Word and Eucharist, and sends them back into the world. Participation therefore begins before the entrance song and continues after the dismissal.
Four steps from Saturday evening to after Mass
- Preview
- Read the Sunday readings and note one word, question, or thanksgiving you want to bring to Mass.
- Make room
- Plan travel, clothing, and practical needs so you can arrive early instead of entering in a rush.
- Offer
- Bring work, joy, wounds, and people who need prayer; place them within the prayer of the assembly.
- Be sent
- After Mass, extend the Lord’s Day through rest, family presence, reconciliation, or service.
Active participation begins within
Participation does not require a visible ministry at every moment. Listening, responding, silence, self-offering, and receiving Communion with a ready heart are acts of the whole person. Preparation keeps the shared gestures from becoming automatic.
Do not try to manufacture a perfect Sunday. Begin with ten minutes for the readings and arrive a little earlier; small fidelity will gradually widen the whole day.
