How to read this Catholic calendar

A short guide to dates, reading cycles, and using this reference alongside your parish calendar.

Official sources to explore

Does the year view follow the civil or liturgical year?

The year view runs from January through December for easy browsing. The liturgical year begins on the First Sunday of Advent, usually in late November or early December. A civil-year page therefore includes dates from two liturgical years.

What do A/B/C and I/II mean?

A/B/C identifies the three-year cycle of Sunday readings. I/II identifies the weekday cycle in Ordinary Time: I in odd-numbered years and II in even-numbered years; the Gospel readings are the same in both. This calendar shows cycle information, not the full Scripture readings.

Does this replace my parish’s calendar?

No. This is a General Roman Calendar reference. National, diocesan, religious-order, and parish calendars may have their own celebrations, transferred dates, or different holy-day obligations. Check the calendar and guidance of the diocese or parish where you worship.

Which time zone determines “today”?

When JavaScript runs, this language view updates today’s date using your device’s time zone; Vietnamese uses Vietnam time (Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh, UTC+7). Without JavaScript, the page keeps the Vietnam date recorded when it was built, so check the displayed date. Choosing a language does not select a national liturgical calendar.

Does downloading an ICS file keep my calendar updated?

Importing a downloaded ICS file usually adds a one-time copy of its events. For updates, use your calendar app’s subscribe-by-URL feature, if available, with the ICS link; the app controls refresh timing. Each ICS link on this website covers one year.
