The Son prays to the Father.
Jesus prayed before important moments, in quiet places, in times of joy and in times of suffering. His prayer stemmed from a loving relationship with the Father and complete obedience to the Father's will.
Jesus taught us to pray with a reconciled heart, unpretentious faith, perseverance, and the belief that the Father knows what we need.
Pray in the Name of Jesus
Praying in the name of Jesus is not just adding another formula to ensure we get what we want. It is about uniting our prayer and intentions with His person, mission, and self-sacrificing love.
Suggested reading: Luke 11:1-13 and Luke 22:39-46. Compare the teaching on trust with the way Jesus prayed during his trials.
When my prayers aren't answered as I wish, how can I continue to trust in and seek God's will?
Bring an important wish to God. After the prayer, add: "Help me to recognize and choose what leads to love, truth, and the common good."
