A family crosses the line of death.
The communion of saints speaks of the sharing of graces and communion among those who belong to Christ: those living on earth, those undergoing purification, and those enjoying glory.
The Church venerates Mary and the saints for the graces God has bestowed upon them. This veneration is different from worship reserved solely for God.
Forgiveness, resurrection, and judgment
Christ entrusted the Church with the mission of proclaiming and celebrating the forgiveness of sins. At death, each person faces their own judgment; at the end of history, Christ completes the work of salvation, his body is resurrected, and all creation is renewed.
Heaven is complete communion with God. Purgatory is the final purification of the dead in grace. Hell is the eternal consequence of the complete and utter rejection of God.
How does the hope of being reborn help me use my time, my body, and my relationships today?
Lord, grant me the grace to live mindfully, to forgive, and to direct all my choices toward eternal communion with You.
