The Christian moral life begins with a gift: through Christ, we are made children of God and receive the Holy Spirit. Good choices are a grateful response to grace, not a way to buy God's love.
The dignity of a Christian calls for a life in accordance with the Gospel, in which freedom grows as we choose what is true and good.
Happiness in the way of Jesus
The Beatitudes reverse many standards of success: those who are poor in spirit, meek, compassionate, peacemakers, and steadfast in doing good are called blessed. They paint a portrait of Jesus and guide us toward the Kingdom of Heaven.
Suggested reading: Matthew 5:1-12. Choose one Beatitude and observe how it is manifested in the life of Jesus.
Am I measuring happiness by possessions, recognition, or by my ability to love and live rightly before God?
Choose one Beatitude as your guiding principle for the week and record a specific choice each day that aligns with that Beatitude.
