Wealth has a social purpose.
Private ownership is legitimate and grants people freedom and responsibility. But earthly possessions are given to all of humanity; owners must use them not only for themselves but also for the common good.
Theft, fraud, vandalism, corruption, breaches of equity commitments, and the willful misuse of others' intellectual property all harm justice; restitution or rectification is necessary whenever possible.
Labor, the poor, and a shared home.
Labor serves people, families, and society; workers have the right to be respected and fairly compensated. Caring for the environment and animals must avoid both destruction and treating them with the same dignity as human beings.
The tenth commandment eradicates greed and envy. Poverty of spirit means being free to use wealth without letting it possess you.
Am I holding on too tightly to something, or comparing myself to someone else to the point of losing my peace of mind?
Take inventory of your weekly spending and resource usage. Choose one item to cut back on, one item to share, and one habit to reduce waste.
