Faith is handed on through life
Parents are the first to proclaim the Gospel to their children, above all through the way they love, apologize, pray, and serve. Sending children to catechism class does not replace the family's role.
A lasting rhythm of faith can be very simple: Sunday Mass, thanksgiving before meals, reading a Gospel passage, blessing the children, and praying amid both joyful and sorrowful events.
Suggested reading: Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 2 Timothy 1:5. Faith is repeated in the rhythm of ordinary life and handed on through witness from one generation to another.
Welcome questions instead of fearing them
Children may ask about suffering, science, scandal, or a friend's religion. Parents do not need to know every answer; they can say, “We do not know yet; let us find out together,” preserving a safe space in which faith can mature.
Which religious practices in my family help us encounter God, and which have become only pressure or empty form and need renewal?
Design a minimal “family rule of life”: a regular Mass time, a short rhythm of prayer, one device-free meal, and one charitable act each month.
