The wedding opens onto a mission
A family proclaims the Gospel when it builds a home marked by truth, mercy, hospitality, and care for the vulnerable. Mission does not demand great works before we learn to love those closest to us.
One course cannot suffice for a lifetime. The early years need accompaniment through concrete milestones involving communication, intimacy, finances, household work, both extended families, pregnancy, faith, and signs of crisis.
Suggested reading: Matthew 5:13-16 and Joshua 24:14-15. The family chooses to serve the Lord and allows its good life to become a light for others.
Do not wait for a crisis before seeking community
Spouses should choose a parish, mentor couple, or young-family group in advance and know where to find professional counseling. Asking for help early is a sign of responsibility, not failure.
Beyond material success, what do we want our future family to be remembered for? Who will be welcomed and supported through this home?
Schedule reviews after 1, 3, 6, and 12 months; each time, examine seven areas: prayer, communication, intimacy, finances, household work, both families, and health.
