The Paschal Mystery celebrated today
In the liturgy, the Father is blessed, Christ is present and acts, and the Holy Spirit prepares the assembly and brings the mystery to fruition. The liturgy is neither a performance nor the private devotion of a group.
The liturgical year centers on Sunday and the Paschal Mystery, then unfolds through Advent, Christmas, Lent, the Paschal Triduum, Easter, and Ordinary Time.
Suggested reading: Acts 2:42-47 and Luke 4:16-21. The first community devoted itself to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer.
Participate with your whole person
Full participation includes listening, responding, singing, silence, gestures, prayer, and the offering of one's life. Catechumens take part in the liturgy according to local guidance but do not receive Communion before their initiation.
Which part of Mass do I connect with most easily, and which still feels unfamiliar? Am I observing, or truly participating?
Before Sunday, read the Scripture readings in advance; at Mass, note one invitation and one action in response for the coming week.
