Christianity is first of all an event

At the center of faith is not a list of rules but Jesus Christ. In him, God draws near to humanity, takes upon himself our sin and suffering, truly dies, and rises again to open the way to reconciliation, freedom, and eternal life.

Key point

The Gospel can be summarized in this way: God loves you; sin wounds relationships; Christ saves you through the Paschal Mystery; he is alive and invites you to believe, repent, receive the Holy Spirit, and walk within the Church.

Scripture

Suggested reading: Mark 1:14-20 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-5. The call to conversion is inseparable from the Gospel of Christ crucified and risen.

A response of both heart and life

Faith includes believing what God reveals, entrusting yourself to him, and allowing him to redirect your choices. Feelings may change; our response is nourished by the Word of God, prayer, community, and concrete steps of conversion.

Reflection

Of the four truths at the heart of the Gospel, which gives me the most hope? Which is the hardest to receive?

Prayer

Jesus, if you truly are alive and calling me, help me to recognize you, dare to believe, and follow you in truth.
