The One who brings Christ's work to fulfillment
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity. He enables us to know Christ, gives sanctifying grace, builds communion, awakens charisms, and sends the Church to proclaim the Gospel.
The Church is one, holy, catholic, and apostolic. Her holiness comes from God; her members still need conversion, so their sins must neither be concealed nor equated with God's will.
Suggested reading: Acts 2:1-47 and 1 Corinthians 12:4-27. The Spirit forms one body with many members and many vocations.
Communion with structure and mission
Christ entrusts to the Apostles and their successors the responsibility to teach, sanctify, and govern. Laypeople, consecrated persons, and ordained ministers share the dignity of Baptism and serve according to their different vocations.
What positive or difficult experience is shaping how I see the Church? What distinction do I need to make among Christ, the Church's teaching, and human failings?
Take part in a parish activity outside class. Ask someone who serves there how his or her vocation supports the community.
